Kirk Champion

Champion is a former assistant baseball
coach at SIU, and is now the Minor League
Pitching Coordinator for the Chicago White Sox.
Champion served as an assistant coach at
Southern (1986-88) and Southwest Missouri
State University (1979-81) before being named
head coach at Rend Lake (Ill.) Junior College
(1982-85). Champion has also been pitching
coach of Team USA in the 2001 Baseball World
Cup and 2006 Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
Additionally, he was a pitching coach in the
2001 International League All-Star Game, 2000
Futures Game, 1992 Florida State League All-Star Game and
1989 Midwest League All-Star Game.
