The SIU Alumni Association takes great responsibility in handling the dues and event registration fees of SIU's alumni. The financial and investment operations of the SIU Alumni Association are under the direct oversight of the Association Board of Directors. Investment decisions are made by the Investment Committee, all of whom are volunteers, in coordination withan outside independent brokerage firm hired to assist inthe process. The invested funds are managed by a professional investment firm whose performance is reviewed quarterly by the Investment Committee.
The SIU Alumni Association's financial statements are audited annually by an independent audit firm in accordance with auditing standards generally accepted in the United States of America and the standards applicable to financial audits contained in Government Auditing Standards, issued by the Comptroller General of the United States. The independent auditors report directly to the State of Illinois Auditor General.
