The Traveling Vietnam Wall, sponsored by the American Veterans Traveling Tribute, is coming to the University Sept. 11-14. The wall is an 80 percent scale version of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. As the date nears, check this website for more information.

Miguel Reece's ’81 story of disabled veterans isn't about the author, but rather, memories from some of America's most legendary battles and the struggles of those who fought in them. "The Disabled Veteran's Story" shares recollections from one of the first female pilots in the U.S. Army Air Corps, a survivor of the Bataan Death March, POWs from WWII and Korea, and much more. Mike Kasser, a 1978 graduate of Southern Illinois University Carbondale and chief financial officer of Southern Illinois Healthcare in Carbondale, is the new president of the SIU Alumni Association’s National Board of Directors. Kasser takes over the organization’s leadership July 1, replacing Barry Smith ’80, who will continue to serve on the board. Look for a feature on Kasser in the Fall issue of SIU Alumni magazine.
