Alumni Association Facilities and Amenities
Class of 1967 Courtyard & Tent
The courtyard space in the center of the Woody Hall complex was a gift to the university from the Class of 1967. Renovation on the project began in 2018. Today, it is an attractive and expansive space perfect for outdoor gatherings.
It also houses the Association big tent, which stays up through spring, summer, and fall. The tent space is also available to rent by request.
Staff members host meetings with other campus departments here, but rooms are also available to alumni who wish to conduct in-person meetings while visiting campus. The space is equipped with some of the latest in video conferencing technology.
Library
Many alumni have authored books or achieved awards during their careers. Some have generously donated these items to the Association over the years. Before, it had no place to exhibit many of them. Now, with the addition of the library space, these items can be displayed. The space is also intended as a resource for alumni or other community members to research university history, as it houses a number of historical documents, including a back catalog of SIU Alumni magazines and the Obelisk yearbook.
Front Lobby
The front lobby is a modern, open space to welcome visitors. The television screen displays a constant stream of information from the Association and elsewhere on campus. Glass displays built into the reception counter exhibits an assortment of notable items and awards for the Association. Walk outside the front lobby, you’ll be facing the north side of Altgeld Hall and the roundabout in front of the University Museum in Faner Hall.
Business Center - Image Coming Soon
The business center's intent is to serve as a quiet, comfortable space for alumni to work. The space also houses two public computer terminals. Windows along the north wall of the room overlook the central courtyard area of Woody Hall.
Student Alumni Council Activity Room - Image Coming Soon
The center also, for the first time, gives the Student Alumni Council -- the Association’s Registered Student Organization on campus – a base of operations for the various volunteer projects the group conducts across campus. The council also hosts regular meetings in the room.
Catering Kitchen - Image Coming Soon
While not a full-service kitchen, this space is equipped for caterers to prepare food for serving during Association events. It’s equipped with a large-size refrigerator, ice maker, warming racks, stainless steel countertops, and sinks.
