What is the SIU Traditions Challenge?
College is about more than just classes—it's about creating unforgettable memories and connecting with fellow Salukis across generations. The SIU Traditions Challenge is your guide to making the most of your time on campus and the surrounding area by diving into the experiences that define what it means to be part of the Saluki family.
This challenge is a fun and meaningful way to explore campus life, celebrate our rich history, and take part in traditions that link you to SIU alumni around the world. Think of it as a campus bucket list—full of iconic activities you're likely to do anyway! Just snap a photo as you complete each one and start building your own collection of SIU memories.
Why Participate?
The Traditions Challenge at Southern Illinois University is designed to inspire students to actively participate in both campus and community traditions. By engaging in a variety of experiences—on and off campus—students will explore new ideas, connect with different parts of SIU and the surrounding Southern Illinois region, and deepen their involvement in Saluki life and the local community.
